The Roadmap

The Sikh Youth Leadership Retreat will provide participants with inspiration to craft a vision of what personal success looks like. Without a target, no path will find its destination. The retreat will help you set a target, because this is the first step in any journey that is worthwhile. Winning requires heart and sincerity. It’s important to remember, though, winning seldom happens alone, it requires a team. The second building block is about building and using your network as a platform for progress. It’s often said that success is a series of small wins. Small wins will add up, and lead to more success. The third building block is about having perseverance and discipline in going after small victories, without which larger success is seldom possible. We live in a society where individual achievement is lauded. We believe that real significance comes not from individual achievement, but from the difference we can make in the lives of others. The final building block is the realization that your “why” should be bigger than the individual self.

Highlights from Past Retreats

Over the past three years, the Sikh Youth Leadership Retreat has welcomed more than 120 youth from across Ontario.

In 2022, we had the honor of hosting remarkable guest speakers who left us all inspired. Among them were Baltej Dhillon, Canada’s first turban-wearing RCMP officer, Manny Kohli, President & CEO of leading vegan leather goods and fashion house Matt & Nat, and Juggy Sihota, CGO at TELUS Health.

Our 2023 retreat continued this tradition of excellence with the presence of Sarabjit Marwah, former Member of the Canadian Senate & former COO at Scotiabank, Gurpreet Sohi and Jessica Gaudreault, members of Canada’s Women’s National Water Polo Team, and Harjinder Sandhu, CTO of Health Platforms and Solutions at Microsoft.

In 2024, we were honoured to host Robin Gill, former Global National anchor and seasoned journalist turned communications consultant, and Amarjit Kaur Sandhu, a pioneering engineering leader with a track record of driving innovation in healthcare technology.
